The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs (MOWA) plans to conduct a Nation-wide assessment on Impact of Affirmative Action. The purpose of the assessment is to identify impact of the affirmative action both its weakness and strength, and the findings would contribute to propose possible solutions and corrective measures. The WTO Accession Plus Project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Trade Relation and Negotiations Directorate of the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MoTI) are hosting a workshop to discuss the meat, live animal, and hides and skins sectors in Ethiopia vis-à-vis the country’s bid to join the World Trade Organization (WTO). The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Intercontinental Hotel Kazanchis, from 8:30am to 12:00pm. (download file for full details)
Image Mombasa-Nairobi-Addis Ababa Road Corridor Project : Ethiopia and AfBD Sign USD 125.6 million Loan Agreement

The African Development Bank (AfDB) signed a Loan Agreement on 15 January 2010 with the Government of Ethiopia to finance the Mombasa-Nairobi-Addis Ababa Road Corridor Project Phase II.

The road is an important section of the Trans-African Highway Network and aims at improving transport links between Kenya and Ethiopia for the benefit of both countries and the wider East Africa and Horn of Africa regions.

The loan for an amount of Units of Accounts (UA) 85 million, representing USD 125.6 million, was signed by Mr Sufian Ahmed, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, representing the Government of Ethiopia and Mr Lamin G. Barrow, AfDB Resident Representative, Ethiopia Country Office, representing the Bank.

 

 

 


Image Meeting MDG 2 : Workshop reviews Quality Improvement in General Education

A four-day Joint Implementation Review   meeting opened Wednesday 9 December 2009 at the Ghion Hotel to evaluate the General Education Quality Improvement Programme (GEQIP).

Some 100 participants are attending, drawn from GEQIP implementing entities such as universities, teacher colleges, regional education bureaus, regional finance bureaus, national ministries as well as development partners are attending the programme.
